High Risk

Some women will have an elevated risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. These are women with a strong family history, BRCA carriers and women who have lesions that are benign but require regular screening.

Benign lesions have non-cancerous changes in the cells that a pathologist can see under the microscope. If this is found in a biopsy or lumpectomy, you may require follow-up, but have a very small chance of developing breast cancer. There are multiple benign lesions that your doctor may monitor and possibly require further investigation.
