Some breast cancer cells grow when stimulated by female hormones (estrogen and/or progesterone). Knowing whether your cancer is “hormone receptor positive” will be important in planning your treatment for breast cancer. Breast cancers that are hormone receptor-positive can be treated with hormonal therapies. Breast cancers with few or no hormone receptors are called hormone receptor-negative.
