Be the Choice
Be the Choice is hosting its inaugural fundraising event, Discover:Choice. Our goal for this ‘gala-meets-indie-style’ event is to raise awareness of the choices available to breast cancer patients while raising funds to support the next stages of development of our unique person-centred treatment decision support tool that aims to enable all women and men diagnosed with breast cancer and their companions and friends to better navigate the labyrinth of medical terminology, decisional events, and treatment pathways that accompany a diagnosis. This tool will change the way a breast cancer diagnosis is experienced.
Get ready for art, music and inspiration. The theme of the night is ‘Choice’ and the possibilities that choice can unravel!
Acclaimed Canadian indie musician, Jon Hynes (formerly of Hey! Rosetta, the Hidden Cameras, Donovan Woods and more) will be headlining and performing. Guests will also enjoy the work of emerging Canadian artists through our partnership with Studio Sixty Six and take part in experiential art.
Food by Epicuria and wine will be served. Art and other donations will be auctioned off.
This night is not your typical fundraiser. The night will be filled with music and art, good food, and wine – and some musical and artistic surprises along the way. Come and experience what choice really means.
What is Be the Choice?
Be the Choice is a not-for-profit organization changing the way breast cancer diagnoses are experienced and treatment options understood. We have been working on developing a tool to help breast cancer patients make more informed decisions about their treatment options. The “Decision Tree” aims to shed light on breast cancer treatment options, show the connections between those decisions, and help other breast cancer patients understand and explore their healthcare choices. It is easy to navigate and delivers information in bit sized chunks.
The theme of the event – Choice – reflects the core value embedded in the tree. Come and celebrate our work so far and help us develop and launch this tool.
Why should I give to Be the Choice?
We realize that donating money is an important decision and should be weighed carefully. In the world of charities, we are unique: we have a singular focus (to deliver the tool), a dynamic, efficient, and effective volunteer leadership, unpaid medical experts, and minimal overhead expenses (about $500 a year). The money you give will go directly to building the decision tree and will support the designers and software engineers working on the tool.
