Radiation is another cancer treatment that uses high energy (radiation) to kill cancer cells, shrink tumors and provide relief of certain cancer-related symptoms. Unlike chemotherapy, radiation is not a systemic therapy since it acts locally and not on the whole body. The main goal of radiation is to reduce local recurrence.
