With delayed reconstruction, the surgeon will rebuild the breast after the chest has healed from the mastectomy and adjuvant therapy. Delayed reconstruction happens weeks or months, possibly years, after your mastectomy and often depends on whether you are undergoing radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy, among other factors.
