MRI

A non-invasive procedure for imaging tissues of high fat and water content that cannot be seen with other radiologic techniques. The MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) gives information about the chemical makeup of tissues, thus making it possible to distinguish normal from cancerous tissue masses in the image. The patient having an MRI procedure must lie motionless during the test for up to 45 minutes, in a cylindrical magnetic resonance machine, which for some people induces claustrophobia. A sedative can be given without compromising test results.
