Some women will have an elevated risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. These are women with a strong family history, patients who have had previous chest radiation (for Hodgkins disease for example), BRCA carriers and women who have lesions that are benign but require regular screening. MRI is recommended.

Benign lesions have non-cancerous changes in the cells that a pathologist can see under the microscope. If this is found in a biopsy or lumpectomy, you may require follow-up, but have a very small chance of developing breast cancer. There are multiple benign lesions that your doctor may monitor and possibly require further investigation.
